Mechanical surface treatment of stainless steel and aluminium
GRONBACH relies on innovative surface treatments for decorative applications in the material, forming and joining technology of stainless metals such as stainless steel or aluminium. This makes the components more resilient, corrosion-resistant, heat-resistant and conductive. We use the following methods for the mechanical treatment of surfaces:
Brushing and grinding
With these machining processes, the material is removed manually or mechanically by appropriate abrasives and grinding movement in order to achieve the desired surface structure. The ground materials can then be finished in various colours, e.g. using the anodising process, and are protected against corrosion and scratching. Especially when brushing metal or aluminium – fine, dulled or textured surfaces can be produced for high-quality optics.
Blasting
By blasting, the surface treatment is carried out by different blasting media (shot blasting, sand blasting), which are directed onto the material at high speed, e.g. by means of air, liquids or magnetism. This results in a compaction of the material and at the same time the solidification of the surface. In addition, surfaces can be cleaned, machined, matted and finished using this process.
Polishing
The removal of thin layers of the surface removes the smallest burrs, particles, unevenness and impurities. This results in high strength, low adhesion and pure and shiny results of the material.
